The train pulled out. The light pulled in.

The train pulled out. The light pulled in.

Dwarfed by steel carriages with the power to move us beyond our human scale, eleven young women enact the expectation, the soon and the not
ever of waiting and loss. Amongst the stilled engines of transition remains a residue of human lives carved out delicately and determinedly in the wake of events greater than our control.

Choreographed by Rachel Dean and through a collaborative process with second year Dance students of York St John University in the goods yard of the National Railway Museum.

Length: 20mins
Music: Steve Reich, Different Trains, 3. After the War.
