February 2013 news
During February Rachel is busy with several projects. On Wednesday 6th February she will be performing her new solo Wolf in York (full details here). She is also in York to create a piece with students from York St John University at the National Railway Museum. This will be performed during Create festival in May.
She has been working as movement practitioner on Joey Hateley’s theatre piece Dirty, which is being shown at Contact Theatre in Manchester.
Two groups of adults with learning disabilities that Rachel has taught regularly over the last few years are now working towards performances. Yorkshire Dance’s Leaps and Bounds will be sharing their work in a showcase at Northern Ballet Theatre on Friday 1st March. Rachel is working with Mind the Gap to make a performative intervention to take place as part of Food For Thought, an Arts Council England initiative making the creative case for diversity in the arts.
Finally, Rachel has started to pull together a research project to take place in June. She will work with several other experienced performers to investigate making performance grounded in the practice of Contact Improvisation. The audience will be at heart of this research process, so there’ll be lots of opportunities to come and see work coming up soon!
